Modeling: the technique of rendering an illusion.

Years have gone by and I have heard, "Chelsea, you were born to model." "Chelsea, you need to model." "Chelsea, you be should a model. " These words went in one ear and out the other; I had no interest in modeling. Then, I had turned 22 and finished my college degree when I hit what felt like a creativity block; I was completely blank. What is the next chapter of my life? I was not ready to "grow up" and work in a cubical. I took some months for self evaluation and during that time I was asked yet, again, "Why aren't you modeling? Chelsea, you should a model." This time it did not go in one ear and out the other. This time I asked looked at myself in the mirror and asked myself, "What do you have to lose?"

Well, now I am ready for everyone to know that I am pursuing to be America's Next Top Model. I am going to, "live the life I have always imagined."

As I venture into the, modeling industry, I want you to join me. Your comments, suggestions, and criticism is only going to help, so don't keep your comments to yourself; share them with me! Please share this part of my life with me and lets see where it takes us!

Today, I got a call from my manager Carey and she has a 'go see' set up for me tomorrow! I am going to meet with http://www.tartcollections.com/ (Check them out! )

HERE IS A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE COMPANY!

Jamie and Dana Finegold launched Tart Collections with the goal of creating a timeless collection that would exude a woman's natural radiance, enhance her confidence and transcend through day and night.

Since this dream first sparked, the powerhouse couple has conquered the fashion marketplace. Adapting to the lesser known tricks and hidden weapons of the industry that destroy most companies entering the business, Jamie and Dana found that to succeed, they merely had to tap into their entrepreneurial potential that had been there all along.

In the late eighties, like now, Jamie turned his love for spotting trends into a successful apparel business. The University of California, Santa Barbara '91 graduates began their quest for emergence into the entrepreneurial world with projects such as creating dresses to outfit sororities for rush events, traveling door-to-door to the dorms to sell Jamie's line of beach volleyball clothing, and frequenting Los Angeles to check on production for Jamie's apparel businesses. The dreamer not only needed a muse, but a business-minded tycoon to run the logistics behind the production- and turning chaos into productivity was where Dana shined.

However, the path from a partaking in a productive hobby in college to establishing an internationally recognized label, was no simple feat. After leaving Santa Barbara, Jamie began working in sales while Dana entered into the world of advertising at Saatchi in San Francisco. Jamie quickly became the number one salesperson within the major department store business. While one boss adored his tenacious marketing techniques, the other resented his ambition to take the company beyond the already established criterion, a discrepancy that ultimately forced Jamie to break out on his own.

With a six month old baby to feed and encouragement from Dana to startup their own line, Jamie and Dana had the right ingredients to push Tart into fruition. Together, Jamie and Dana launched JD FINE and Company in July of 1996. The company grew from 1 million to 4 million in its second year and from 4 million to 8 million the year thereafter. The initially humorous notion of creating a profitable corporation became a stark reality after only several years, and freed the couple to fulfill Jamie's dream of launching a contemporary women's sportswear line.

In its first few years, TART Collections became one of the leaders in the market- the timeless, sultry silhouettes standing as the Finegolds' true calling.

Through Jamie and Dana, JD Fine and Company's mission stands to create a product that uses beautiful fabrics to inspire women each time they add something ñTARTî to their personal collection. Influenced by designers such as Roberto Cavalli and Halston, Jamie designs TART for women with already existing confidence, and for those seeking the extra piece necessary to radiate such sentiment. The Finegolds confirm that in the last five years, TART has proven to be their greatest business accomplishment. As the label to watch in the contemporary fashion industry, Jamie and Dana have made their mark as pioneers in the reinvention of jersey with a modern twist. Their knack for surviving in an ever-changing and fickle market has enabled TART to remain both viable and vibrant.

TART retails at exclusive department stores and better boutiques across the United States.

Always be Pure , Simple and Honest

I am being honest with myself. I am letting my heart beat with pure love. I am going to remember that being simple is the only honest and pure way to live my life.

How to Start this Journey... Ummm CraigsList!

"CraigsList"

It was ten o'clock at night and I thought to myself.."where does a girl even begin to model? where am I going to find this on Craigslist? Is craigslist a safe place to find modeling gigs" If I could find places to live on CraisList, then, I can find a runway show to be in!
I clicked on gigs and then clicked talent.. A list of modeling gigs appeared. "WE NEED MODELS ALL SIZES," I read in big letters; I liked the way this ad sounded..all sizes, yes! I clicked onto the ad and found out that this was a posting for a SaN Francisco design student's fashion show: she needed runway models, all sizes!! I thought to myself, "this would be a great beginning, but then I have never done runway.." Well, I have to start somewhere-I had nothing to lose; I sent in a couple pictures I had on file and my stats. Within hours I got a reply, "Please come see me for a fitting."

I got into my car and drove the hour and fifteen minutes to San Francisco. I was nervous! So, many "what if's" ran across my brain, but I went anyways-you got to face your fears-I did the fitting and loved my outfit, loved the designer and booked the show; the show was Friday night that week!

Friday came along and I drove back into SaN Francisco.. All day Hair, makeup, and a practice run!

I was the first to walk!! (yay, a newbie walking first, but I did it). The curtain opened and the music hit; I could hear my hills hit the floor-nothing, but bliss came over me.
Courage, grace, and then, BAM, my inner beauty took over my body. I can do this, I can do this, I am doing this, I am doing this! My soul was filled with happiness.. I knew I had found something that I truly loved.

My first runway show was a success I didnt fall... I was hooked..
